Ledger Live is the official companion application for Ledger hardware wallets. This presentation walks you through installing Ledger Live, connecting and unlocking your Ledger device, authorizing Ledger Live, and using basic features like adding accounts and making transactions. Security tips and troubleshooting suggestions are included so you can protect your funds and avoid common scams.
Always download Ledger Live from Ledger’s official website or your device store (macOS, Windows, Linux, Android, iOS). Use checksums/signatures where provided.
When you first power the device, follow the on-device prompts to create a new wallet (generate seed) or restore an existing wallet using your recovery phrase — always on-device.
Use the official cable (or Bluetooth for Nano X mobile). Enter your PIN on the device to unlock — never type your seed phrase into an app or website.
Open the app, select “Get started” or “Access your wallet”, and follow Ledger Live prompts. Confirm prompts physically on the device when asked to allow access.
From the Manager tab install coin-specific apps on-device, add accounts in Ledger Live, and verify receive addresses on the device before accepting funds.
Use the official download page or official app stores. For desktop, verify the installer and do not run packages from unknown sources.
Initialize the device in a private place. Write your recovery phrase on the supplied card or a metal backup — never store it digitally. Ledger will never ask for your seed phrase. If any software or prompt requests it, treat it as a scam.
Ledger Live communicates with the hardware; when performing sensitive actions you will be asked to confirm on-device. This ensures that even if your computer is compromised, private keys never leave the Ledger device.
Fake Ledger installers and phishing pages have been used to trick users into entering seed phrases. Always check the domain, download only from ledger.com (or official app stores), and never share your recovery phrase. If an app asks for your_seed_phrase — it is malicious.
Ledger Sync lets you sync account information across multiple devices securely — helpful if you use both desktop and mobile Ledger Live.
Ledger Academy provides training and articles on how crypto, blockchains, DeFi, and NFTs work — excellent for beginners and power users.
If you believe you've been targeted by a scam or your device behaves unusually (unexpected seed prompts, wrong installer), contact Ledger Support using official channels only.
